Additional FAQs
Q: Does it hurt?

A: With minimal physical discomfort, most clients can do the procedure without numbing cream and any noticeable pain. There is no lingering discomfort, and we employ several strategies to minimize discomfort during treatment. Post-procedure, most people report a "tight" feeling in their skin.

Q: Who can do this treatment?

A: As ProCell microchanneling treatments are minimally invasive, they are also safe for all skin types. Whether you are fair-skinned or dark, and even if you experience chronic breakouts, properly conducted microchanneling treatments will not result in hyperpigmentation, keloid scars, or other lasting adverse side effects.

Q: What's in the serum?

A: ProCell's Microchannel Delivery Serum contains bone marrow-derived growth factors in a hyaluronic acid suspension. Both of these elements naturally occur in the human body. No human, animal, or plant cells, DNA, blood, or other foreign substances exist. The product has been used safely and effectively for over a decade.

Q: What skin conditions will it help with?
A: Microchanneling treatments can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, stretch marks, and rosacea.

Q: My skin is irritated. Can I use moisturizer?

A: It is normal for treatments to result in some skin irritation, especially for clients with more sensitive skin. Always wait at least 90 minutes before putting anything else on the skin. During this time, it is normal for the skin to remain pink or light red. After the 90 minutes, you can apply additional moisturizer or other products. However, as your skin may be more sensitive than usual for several days after the treatment, especially strong topicals should be avoided until the skin returns to normal.

Q: How long before I see results?

A: Though neocollagenesis (the production of new collagen) can take several weeks, it is not abnormal to notice an improvement in the quality and appearance of your skin within the first 24 hours. After 2-3 treatments, a thicker, more robust, collagen-filled cellular matrix will produce more consistent and noticeable improvement. And 6 or more treatments may be recommended for scarring, laxity and wrinkles.

Q: What should I expect during my appointment?

-
Most clients don't find the stamping tool we use to be painful and most clients aren't bothered much by the stamping tool we use, you won't find your treatment to be as relaxing as a facial, for example. However, we remain dedicated in making your experience as relaxing as possible.
-
**Note: Please discontinue using retinol-based products, AHAs and BHAs for one week before your appointment. These ingredients make your skin more fragile and can cause sensitivity that does not combine well with the ProCell treatment.
Q: What should I expect after my appointment?

-
Immediately following your appointment, you will likely experience some redness and slight facial swelling. However, you should find that swelling goes down within an hour or two, while redness can last up to two days.
-
We recommend waiting at least 6 hours after your procedure before applying anything to the skin. After this, you can apply the post-care products we provide you with or a mild moisturizer. Ideally, you will wait until the following day to apply anything, and these products would include a gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen.
-
You may find that the skin feels slightly sunburned where the microchanneling occurred. With time, this will subside.
-
As for how long you should expect to wait until you see results, most clients find that the best results start to show up 1 to 2 weeks after their procedure and return to their regular activities the next day without worry or concern.
-
To ensure your comfort, we use a mild topical anesthetic, which is massaged into the skin before the procedure. You won't feel any pain during your treatment, but you will feel slight pressure. After the treatment, you will feel a sunburn sensation for 2-5 hours. This can be soothed with a clean, damp compress.
-
You may also experience some mild itching for a day or two after the treatment while the skin heals and tightness or dryness. This can be addressed with the post-care products we provide and by using a good moisturizer for a couple of weeks following the procedure.
Q: What should I do after my treatment?
-
Taking care of your skin after your treatment and between sessions is extremely important and can make all the difference in your results.
-
Some things you can do to keep your results looking great include:
-
Avoid applying anything to your skin for at least 6 hours after your procedure, aside from a cool compress or the post-care serums provided.
-
Avoid cleansing for at least 6 hours after your appointment.
-
Avoid exercise, swimming, and saunas for at least 72 hours.
-
Using proper sun protection is extremely important. When possible, avoid direct sunlight entirely the week following your procedure.
-
Skip any exfoliating products for seven days after treatment.
-
-
We recommend keeping your skin as natural as possible after your procedure. Applying abrasive products, over-cleansing, or exposing yourself to harsh conditions like the sun can impede the skin’s healing process (i.e. the primary mechanism that makes ProCell Therapy so effective).
